You Must Finish The Work!

John 4:34  34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

There is an account in the book of 1 Samuel where Saul, on one of his many occasions, was facing a war.  The prophet Samuel had given Him very specific instructions to wait for him 7 days.  He didn’t.  I won’t begin to tell you when you take matters into your own hands; you inadvertently face the consequences of your choices.  What seems honorable to you may not be what God is calling you to do.

I myself know of many so called sacrifices I have made over the years, never once seeking the face of God as to whether or not this was what He desired for me or of me.  Yes, He has honored me because of His faithfulness, and I would like to believe because my intentions were pure.  But when it was time for His perfect will to be done in my life, it was as if He was saying, “time up Pamela, now we do it My way”.

He began removing people and it began with Him removing me out of my own way.

This account of Saul and his disobedience caused the lives of many who followed him to inadvertently be affected by his decisions.  And as a result of his impatience and desire to take matters into his own hands, he lost the Kingdom he was once anointed to rule.

Yes, there are times we become impatient, when we need to just rest in the Lord and wait, obedient to whatever He says.  Jumping ahead of God is NEVER good!!!  When you have the time, I encourage you to all read this account for yourselves.  While it may minister to your spirit on several levels, understand that God desires obedience above anything else.  If it were not so, He would not have said “Obedience is better than sacrifice”.  With that, I pray you all are blessed today.  Decide you will be obedient to God and God alone!  You have a work to finish and it will only be accomplished when you are fully surrendered and obedient to God!

Meditate On:

Deuteronomy 28:1-2  And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:  2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

1 Samuel 13:8-14  8 And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.  9 And Saul said, Bring hither a burnt offering to me, and peace offerings. And he offered the burnt offering. 10 And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him. 11 And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash;  12 Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the Lord: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering. 13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the Lord thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the Lord have established thy kingdom upon Israel forever. 14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord commanded thee.
